Author:  Chinyen Chuo

Grade Level: 10 - 12

Courses: Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus

Lesson Summary: This unit provides an introduction to concepts central to image and signal processing, in particular, image segmentation using the K-Means algorithm. Recommended for students in Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, or Calculus, this unit can be used as an application of matrices and of Euclidean distance or vector magnitude, and as an introduction to the concept of optimization. This unit includes an introduction/tutorial to MATLAB software and the procedural and the conceptual of the K-Means algorithm.
